mandy...

Long ago I sat alone
as all around the town we'd go.
Her hair was black,
the dash was blue,
I always knew her love was true.

Long ago my brother came,
and oft' you'd hear her call our names.
The salt set in,
the dash changed hue,
We always knew her love was true.

The years have passed,
we've moved away,
the black has all but gone away.
Looking forward long ago,
she never knew how far we'd go.

Coming home - the trees have grown,
the one-time children now have their own.
Long ago the now seemed far,
as time would crawl there in our car.
As Dad would drive and Mom would cue,
We always knew their love'd be true.

amy....
long ago.. when she was 14
she spent every summer day
at the beach wearing the
bikini her mom had bought for
her.

hilde...
long ago...when she was small,
i would visit...
we would sit on the porch...
and i would tell her about how things
used to be...
and i would braid her hair...
today on that very porch, her
little one asked "will you
braid my hair?"
